The essay contest encourages students to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief. Entries are due to the Medina VFW by 10/31. Local winners are then submitted to compete on a regional and then state levels - ultimately in hopes to make it to the national level chance to win larger scholarships.
